Our Kids Deserve Great Places to Play… That’s Why Mayor Jimmy Davis and his Team are Revitalizing our Parks!

Shortly after taking office four years ago, Mayor Jimmy Davis made it a priority to end years of neglect in our city parks. He’s investing millions of dollars in open space and recreation, utilizing new tax revenue generated by $2.5 billion in development happening all over the city. The result is a completely revitalizing public park system, giving Bayonne residents the open public space they deserve.

Park improvements completed during Mayor Davis’ first term in office include:

  • New Turf Field at Don Ahern Veteran’s Memorial Stadium
  • Complete Overall at Korpi Ice Rink
  • New Soccer Fields, Landscaping and Pond at Stephen R. Gregg Hudson County Park
  • New Splash Zone, Basketball Courts and Dog Park at Dennis P. Collins Park, plus Resurfaced Volleyball and Tennis courts, new Corn hole toss, Yoga area, Outdoor exercise equipment and more
  • New Splash Zone, resurfaced Basketball Courts at Clark Park (8th Street)
  • Bayonne’s First Playground for Special Needs Kids at 16th Street Park

Besides providing tax revenue, new developments are also directly improving Bayonne’s parks through community benefit agreements. These agreements allow developers to provide needed investments in public spaces or infrastructure, enhancing our city at no cost to taxpayers. The following community benefit projects are currently under construction:

  • Expanded Waterfront Walkway and adjacent parks at MOTBY
  • New pocket park on Broadway funded by 19 East development

Team Davis won’t stop there — they have a plan to continue revitalizing Bayonne parks over the next four years. The Davis park improvement plan utilizes millions in new tax revenue being generated by new development happening throughout the city, allowing these park enhancements to happen without overburdening taxpayers.
